Wandering Primary School was opened in 1869 and relocated to its present site in 1925. It is a small rural school situated 120kms SE of Perth. It is located near state forests and within a farming area that includes sheep, cereal crops, hay making and wine production.
The school works in close partnership with the School Council, the bus committee, the grounds committee and the Parents’ and Citizens’ Association. Important issues relating to school policies and procedures, curriculum, uniform, presentation of the school and fund raising are determined in consultation with these groups.
The students are from a variety of backgrounds and the town has enjoyed recent population growth, which has resulted in increased student enrolments for the school.
The staff at Wandering Primary School is a happy mix of fulltime and part time personnel. There is a strong collegiate bond and the staff’s dedication has resulted in innovative & interesting learning programs being provided for the students.
There is a strong IT program in place as well as Landcare projects. Very close & positive school /community links have been developed and community involvement in the school is a key feature of school achievement.
Although relatively isolated, strong bonds are fostered with nearby Boddington District High School, 34km to the west, Williams Primary School, 60 km south, and Pingelly Primary School, 60 km to the east.
