Council

The Shire of Wandering is divided into 4 Wards and the Council has 7 Councillors - 2 representing the North Ward, North East Ward and South Ward with 1 representing the Town Ward. Council elections are held in May of each odd numbered year and the term of office is for a 4 year period. Approximately half the Councillors retire at each election. Councillors are eligible to renominate.

The Councillors elect a Councillor to the Office of President and also Deputy President every second year for a 2 year term. Both are eligible to re-nominate.

The Council meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month commencing at 11am with provision for a public question time of 15 minutes at the start of each meeting.

Items for Council's consideration are required to be lodged at the Shire Office by noon on the Wednesday 8 days before the meeting. This ensures the item is able to be included in the Agenda which is published on the Friday, 6 days before the meeting and allows Councillors time to research the issue before being asked to debate and vote at the meeting.
