Western Australia is joining with other states and territories to deliver nationally consistent emergency information through the implementation of the AWS. The implementation of AWS was a recommendation from the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements, and aims to provide simpler, clearer warnings to all Australians.
The implementation of AWS will see a consistent warning framework applied across bushfires, storms, floods, cyclones and extreme heat events.
Over time, there will be more changes to emergency information as DFES continues to achieve national consistency across a range of hazards.
